Hesaraghatta Lake

Hesarghatta Lake is the name given to the reservoir created by a dam built by the rulers of Mysore kingdom in 1894. For most of the recent years, though, this lake has been dry due to the mismanagement of the catchment areas around. The higher-than-usual monsoons of this year have restored the lake to its full glory, however.

Grey-bellied Cuckoo (Cacomantis passerinus)

Despite spending only about half an hour of birding, we managed to spot this elusive winter visitor; a lifer for me!
